Care and Feeding:

Woven crafts such as handbags, placemats and rugs should be washed very carefully and infrequently to prolong their life span.

Spot washing is always ideal and should be your first solution for dirt or stains. Use a damp cloth and rub the area to try and remove whatever is on there. If that does not work, you can run it under lukewarm water in the sink with a gentle cleaner like Woolite. Do not agitate it too hard. Be very gentle with it so that the fibers all stay where they are and don't shift or pull.

Larger items like rugs which have been getting walked on may benefit from occasional gentle cleaning. I would do this in a bathtub or a large laundry tub, either filled with lukewarm (NOT hot) water and a small amount of gentle detergent, or with a nice powerful handheld sprayer. This should help dislodge dirt and dust which might be caught in the fibers.

Reshape and lay flat to dry. You can put them in the sun to speed drying as long as it's not too hot.

Vacuuming handmade rugs: If you use the agitator attachment, please use the lowest suction setting and go WITH THE GRAIN (alongside the striped pattern). If you go against the grain, smaller strings could get caught in the agitator and you'll end up with a pull.

Need a repair? Because items are created by hand and not with machines in a factory, they may be imperfect or fragile. For this reason, all of our items are sold as-is. But, if you have an item that needs a simple repair, we may be able to fix it for you depending on what's going on. We may charge an hourly fee for this work ($25/hr).
